Mierholds Death?

Mierhold seems to be the most unlucky charecter in all the movies, he gets two of his fingers removed, gets infected, alost gets deserted, and gets thrown into a traped room, were he was finished and put out of his misery. But I was wondering, how did the trap room work? how could sound cause him to explode? wouldent it just make him deaf?

in theory, the vibrations that are sound (that our eardrums pick up) could be used to agitate everything in Mierhold's body (much like sound breaking glass bottles/cups), but this couldn't happen. Movie magic FTW :D
